The inspiring beauty of Mayakoba

Nicole and Ryan knew they wanted a destination wedding from minute one.  They’d been to a few destination weddings and knew those type of weddings were their favorite.  They knew Mexico was a great option. But it was only after their planners and destination wedding experts at The Eventeur told them about Mayakoba and the beautiful chapel at El Pueblito that they were sold!

Nicole knew she wanted to do something different for their wedding theme. The inspiration really came from Mayakoba and their venue, the Andaz Mayakoba.  The hotel feels so lively with all the colors, plus it’s nestled in the heart of the Rivera Maya which encompasses jungle vibes. Thus, Nicole decided to go bright, bold, and colorful.  “It is Mexico after all”, they figured they would go against the tradition wedding themes and do something fun! Scroll to soak in the beauty of this Mayakoba wedding!

The magic of a Berta dress💫

Berta wedding dress

Nicole’s story took a turn when she found herself dress shopping at San Diego’s fanciest spot, The Bustle, one Thanksgiving weekend. She was on a mission to track down the perfect dress and had her heart set on Berta – the dresses were just stunning. Choosing one turned out to be a tough nut to crack because they were all so darn beautiful.

After some back and forth, Nicole had a lightbulb moment – why not bring her dad into the mix? It might not be the traditional thing to do, but her dad had fought cancer a few rounds in her life, and that changed the game. All she wanted was for him to be part of her big day and walk her down the aisle. And what made it even more special was his choice of dress. That was the magic ticket – the dress Nicole would wear on her Mayakoba wedding.

The First Look – Bride and Groom in their Mayakoba wedding

Amidst the embrace of lush green surroundings, Ryan caught sight of his Bride in her exquisite Berta gown for the very first time. Back when the nerves were real and excitement was in the air, there’s this memory that stands out. Ryan, of all people, seemed even more fidgety and jittery than she was. It changed the game – suddenly showing him the dress felt like a rush. And you know what really made it stick? His reaction, pure and unfiltered, turning the moment into something electric.

But you know, it’s not just about that initial reaction. It’s those little private moments they managed to steal before they had to walk down the aisle. Those moments became the heartbeat of the whole thing, making everything feel all the more real and important. Such a special way to kick off this Mayakoba wedding!

Ceremony at El Pueblito Chapel

Right from the start of the planning adventure, El Pueblito at Mayakoba had Nicole completely hooked. And guess what? The Chapel played the superhero role—it was the ultimate game-changer, sealing the deal for her! And it indeed never looked so good! Adorned with an organic, lush arch featuring colorful bougainvilleas, this floral design masterfully crafted by Mandarinna Studio, was the cherry on top of this stunning Mayakoba wedding.

Now, delving into another charming detail, the focus shifts to the ceremony’s musical notes. Back in the pre-engagement phase, Nicole & Ryan heard one instrumental version of “higher ground” from Odesza, one of their favorite DJ’s. This shared harmony struck a chord, and a thought took flight – that very melody could be their grand wedding entrance. An extra touch of luck was on their side – their priest’s openness allowed her to gracefully glide down the aisle to this non-traditional, yet profoundly significant, piece. It wasn’t just a tune; it was their anthem. The air was thick with memories as their friends recognized the song, turning a special moment into a collective memory.

Catching sunset at Andaz Mayakoba beach > Bride & Groom sunset photo session

One of the absolute highlights we can’t help but rave about? The photo session with the newlyweds after the ceremony! Now, mind you, we’ve captured countless weddings, and here’s a pro-tip we’ll always swear by: carve out some time in that busy schedule for those cozy, just-us two snapshots. With the glorious Caribbean waves as our canvas and the sun playing its magical disappearing act on the horizon, these moments with Nicole & Ryan were pure gold.

Reception set up and decor designed by the bride

Haven’t got enough inspo yet? Check out this colorful outdoors wedding reception in Balam Garden, Andaz Mayakoba.

Nicole and Ryan totally rocked it with their flower game for their Mayakoba wedding. The couple went all out with vibrant shades of bright pink and magenta, sprinkled with just the right touch of lush greenery, and spiced thing up with bursts of blue candles on the tables. You might think that combo is a wild mix, but hold on! It blended like peanut butter and jelly! Special mention to the awesome staff at Mandarinna Studio who executed the design flawlessly!

Oh, and their wedding invites? Total winners. They practically had a sign saying, “Dress colorfully or you’ll stand out!”. And let me tell you, the guests absolutely aced it! Nicole was all about the blue magic for her bridesmaids – she figured, why not make them her “something blue”? It turns out, that move was pure genius! She even jazzed it up with matching gifts that totally vibed with the whole blue theme.

But hold onto your hat, because the groomsmen were in on the game too – they were dressed in sharp blue suits. Now, you might be thinking, blue with all that bright pink flower in action? The answer is a resounding YES!

Now, speaking of standing out, they had some seriously kick-butt details that set their day apart. Instead of boring old table numbers on their seating chart, they went big and mapped out all the amazing places they’ve traveled together. It was like a journey across the globe right there at the reception! And as if that wasn’t enough, they had this dancefloor that was lit – I mean, literally lit up. But the real showstopper? The neon sign at the bar that screamed “let’s get hammered” (pun game strong!)

Let the party begin!

Now, let’s talk about the party scene in this Mayakoba wedding. Guess who was behind the epic dance fest? DJ Dulce, the true magician of beats! Post-wedding, guests couldn’t stop raving about DJ Dulce and how that dancefloor was pumping like a dynamo! Now, onto the sips – those signature drinks were something else. Nicole’s still got dreams about her coconut margarita. It’s like a little vacation in a glass. Trust me, a sip of that and you’re practically hearing seagulls and feeling the sand between your toes!

We were totally over the moon to be a part of this enchanting wedding. Teaming up with The Eventeur, El Pueblito at Mayakoba and all the amazing vendors was like a recipe for good vibes and epic memories – pure magic from start to finish!
